IoT Solutions World Congress: Why Barcelona Is the Place to Be in May

A century ago, automation solutions arrived to transform manual industrial tasks. This century, the digital revolution and internet of things (IoT) technology are transforming business again. IoT technology now touches every aspect of business and every industry segment in every geography. So, the IoT Solutions World Congress - to be held 21-23 May 2024 in Barcelona, Spain - is extremely valuable because it brings so many different perspectives together in one place: 250 speakers, hundreds of exhibitors and a half-dozen special events are all focused on the many disruptive technologies that are pushing businesses forward. I encourage you to attend. Automation.com will be there, bringing stories back for those who cannot.

I like that the IoT Solutions World Congress is in Europe and provides a truly global perspective in its sessions and exhibits. Especially on topics related to connectivity and cybersecurity, a global perspective is essential. Two sessions I’m looking forward to are the panel discussions on International Correlation in Cybersecurity, and Applying the 62443 Standard Series in Securing Industrial Automation Systems in Response to Current and Pending Regulations.

The speaker line up overall is excellent, including leaders in their industries and experienced technologists. The sessions showcase game-changing innovations and implementation challenges, described by the people who are doing the hard work and leading the way. I am particularly interested in hearing from speakers from Unilever, Exiger, Atlantic Health System and Saudi Aramco. The latter, Dr. Soloman Almadi, was just named an ISA Fellow for inventing and commercializing Intelligent Integrated Node (IIN) technology.

I am also interested in discovering and sharing with the Automation.com audience the cross-sector solutions and insights revealed by the conference: Tech from the European Space Agency applied to earth-bound autonomous vehicles. Data-driven agriculture. Aerial services companies using 5G communications. Nestle leveraging AI and machine learning to protect their brands. These are just some of the hundreds of sessions.

Part of why the session line up is so stellar is because it was developed by the International Society of Automation. The same events team that programmed ISA’s ISA OT Cybersecurity Summit in June and the ISA Automation Summit and Expo-USA tapped into the wide and deep expertise of ISA volunteers, standards committees and consortia.

Just like the annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas showcases tech for entertainment or personal productivity, the IoT Solutions World Congress seems on its way to becoming the new-technology event for business advancement and industrial productivity. Automation.com is happy to share news from the event with its global audience.
